Grove Hill Medical Center is the largest multispecialty medical group in Connecticut, serving an economically and ethnically diverse population in 9 locations in the State. Founded in 1947, Grove Hill Medical Center provides outpatient care in over 19 medical specialties by 80 physician providers. (http://www.grovehill.com). Currently, Grove Hill has a database of over 500,000 active patients.

Grove Hill Clinical Research (GHCR) was founded by Rafael S. Wurzel, M.D., C.P.I. in 1999. GHCR was established to provide Grove Hill Medical Center's patients the opportunity to participate in industry-sponsored clinical research studies of promising and innovative therapies. In the past ten years, GHCR has successfully undertaken and completed over 50 Urology-related trials in phases II, III, and IV of drug development. Recently, GHCR became an independent department within Grove Hill Medical Center, conducting research in several therapeutic areas, including Urology, Women's Health, Opthalmology, Dermatology, Pain Management and Oncology.

GHCR has extensive specialty networking ability within Grove Hill Medical Center. Electronic charting of patient records and laboratory data optimizes screening for potential study candidates by the research team and by an independent physician consultant. In addition, GHCR successfully utilizes local advertising initiatives and conducts community outreach to local senior centers, assisted living facilities and community clinics.

GHCR's team of experienced, full-time research staff coordinates pharmaceutical industry trials in adherence to GCP/ICH and FDA guidelines. Study coordinators at GHCR are trained nurses and medical assistants dedicated to professional and compassionate patient care and quality data collection. GHCR has successfully worked with a variety of sponsors, cooperative research groups and CRO's (clinical research organizations).

As a private clinic, GHCR uses central IRBs (independent research boards) specified by sponsors for all studies. We collaborate closely with our sponsors to ensure expeditious processing of regulatory documents and contracts.
